Andrew Parkhurst has lived in Flintshire for over 25 years and is heavily involved in his community, last year setting up and running his local prescription collection service in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

By profession, Andrew is a Chartered Insurance Risk Manager, having served as President of the Insurance Institutes of Liverpool and Stratford-on-Avon. In 2017 Andrew was awarded an Exceptional Service Award by the Chartered Insurance Institute in recognition of his work over many years to raise professional standards.

Andrew is Chair of Flintshire Liberal Democrats and has been appointed as the Welsh Liberal Democrat's Economy Spokesperson.

Andrew Parkhurst said:

"Under successive Welsh Labour governments the Welsh economy has underachieved. The Coronavirus pandemic has also shone a light on some fundamental problems in our society where poverty, inequality and inadequate health care - particularly for mental health - are all too common.

"My desire is to see a fairer, more compassionate and tolerant society where the country is competently governed, individuals are given the opportunities to succeed, the vulnerable are better protected and poverty is abolished.

I am not driven by ideology though - simply a desire to work together to find sensible solutions to the problems we face.

"There is so much the UK and Welsh governments could do to improve the lives and life chances of all our citizens - from improving the economy and sorting out the housing crisis to raising standards of physical and mental health care and addressing the climate emergency.

"Working with my Liberal Democrat colleagues in Westminster and in the Senedd I will continue to hold our political representatives to account in order to help build a fairer society for all."
